Going to school

In Australia, we have:

• public schools – paid for by the government
• private schools – paid for by parents.

It’s important to find a school that is right for you or your child.

This includes a school that can teach you or your child in the way that they need.

You or your child might need extra support to learn, such as:

• a screen reader
• extra time to finish an activity
• 1-on-1 teaching support
• a quiet space to learn
• learning materials in different formats, like:
  • large print
  • braille
  • videos.
• desks that can move.

The school should provide this extra support to help you or your child learn.
