About the Coronavirus Vaccine

The Australian Government is giving people a vaccine to help protect you from COVID-19.

A vaccine is medicine that:

  • helps people fight a virus if they come in contact with it
  • can stop people from getting very sick from the virus.

The COVID-19 vaccine is a good way to protect:

  • you
  • your family
  • the community.

The vaccine is being offered in Australia to everyone aged 5 and over.

You should talk to your doctor about the vaccine first if you:

  • have a disability
  • are worried about having the vaccine.
