A person’s gender is not the same as their sex.
For example, someone who was assigned as a male when they are born, could become a woman later in life.
There are people who don’t identify as male or female.
When you identify as something, you say that you belong to a certain group of people.
If someone doesn’t identify as male or female, this is called being:
Someone can decide to change their gender at different times in their life.
This is called being gender fluid.
Or, someone with an assigned sex might become a different gender.
This is called being transgender.
