Taking care of yourself

It’s important to make sure you are looking after yourself as well as your baby.

You need to make sure that you:

  • eat well
  • relax and have some time to yourself
  • do activities you enjoy.

It’s normal to feel very emotional straight after you have a baby.

If you are feeling sad or anxious for more than 2 weeks, you should talk to your doctor.

This could be post-natal depression.

Post-natal depression affects 1 out of every 7 women.

It can make you feel:

  • like you aren’t doing a good job as a mother
  • very tired
  • very sad or scared.
