What is sterilisation?

Sterilisation is when you have surgery to stop you from giving birth to a child.

It can be good for women who are sure they don’t want children.

Sterilisation is hard to undo.  You may not be able to get pregnant, even if you have surgery to reverse it.

Some women with disability are also:

  • sterilised without being told about it
  • forced to do it when they don’t want to.

This is never OK.
