What is menopause?

Menopause is when your body stops making the hormones that mean you can get pregnant.

Hormones are chemicals inside people’s bodies.

Most women start going through menopause between 45–60 years old.

Women who have menopause
may experience:

  • changes to their period
  • hot flushes and night sweats
  • tiredness
  • changes in their mood.
